Different types of Goals (global, project, experiment goal)

We would like to have an option to select the type of goal and it should also be possible to change the type later.

With this option you can easier set up a global, project or experiment goal and we could reduce the amount of goals in the goal list and make it clearer.

The idea came up because we create a lot of different tests with a lot of goals. Some of the goals we use in many different projects, some of them we use only in one project and some of the goals we only use in one experiment.

+1! For now we get around this by prefixing our goals and then they're more easily filterable - especially now that you can archive goals. Our typical workflow looks like:

1) "Global: {Name}" names for anything we'll use again

2) "Funnel: Step1: {Step}" for our funnel steps

3) "ExpXX: {Name}" for anything specific to an experiment

Anytime we then pause an experiment, we then archive everything from the goals tab for that experiment

Been working for us well lately - hope that helps in the interim!

Greetings from the Education team,

Did you know that you can tag your goals? Simply click a goal from the Home page, and add a #hashtag to the description (which is located in the sidebar on the right). Feel free to add as many tags as you like, such as #global and #funnel. When you create future experiments, you can search and filter goals by their #hashtags!

Learn more about #hashtags here!

Hope this helps!

Hi @StefanF,

Did you try using the hashtags as well?  Does that work as well? Better or worse?

Hi @Ehsan,

No we don't use the hashtags at the moment because we track now everything with Omniture and that's why we need not very often to set up goals in Optimizely.

Best,

Stefan
