CSS changes not visible on initial page load

I've made CSS changes within the Optimizely app and they work perfectly in the preview window also within the Opptimizely app itself. When I open the the same page in a separate browser the CSS changes don't load on the first page view, only after refreshing the page a second time.

The trigger is an immediate URL match. And I've tried switching the timing between Synchronous and Asynchronous with no luck.

Any advice on how to fix this?

Add the following query parameter "?optimizely_log=info" when opening in the other browser to follow exactly what is happening to give you further insight what is failing.

When I use that parameter on the initial page load nothing happens at all. But same issue, when I try that parameter a second time it works and I get all the Optimizely notes

1. The logging occurs on the browser console - hit F12 on your keyboard to show this. Further information can be found here - https://help.optimizely.com/QA_Campaigns_and_Experiments/Read_the_Optimizely_X_log

2. I have a hunch from what you are explaining that Optimizely might not be installed in the correct manner, or you can modify your code to see if it has done the changes, else try again.

I agree with @RyanC - if you do not get any logging on the first page hit, then that looks like Optimizely is not even loading on that page hit.

You can verify if it is loading or not by looking for your snippet in the browser's network console and verifying the existence of the object "optimizely" in your console.

Read Point number 4 - https://help.optimizely.com/Set_Up_Optimizely/Implement_the_one-line_snippet_for_Optimizely_X

Make sure your snippet is as high up in the head tag as possible and that there is not the word "async" within the script tag added by your site administrators.
