Cannot Test Norton Shopping Guarantee Seal

Hi,

Trying to do a simple test that hides / shows a trust seal that's loaded through a JS snippet via Google Tag Manager.

Seems to me that Optimizely is executing before the seal(s) load, so I tried everything in this article to no avail, including the polling for new content method: https://help.optimizely.com/QA_and_Troubleshoot/Troubleshooting%3A_Variation_content_doesn't_appear

Previews are not loading (stuck on loading), so was trying to QA using URL params, but no luck. Anyone have experience testing trust seals or advice?

Re: Cannot Test Norton Shopping Guarantee Seal

Hi,

If the trust seal is loaded through GTM then timing may be the issue and the polling for new content method generally resolves this issue.

Were you able to verify whether the variation code was executed? You can find out by looking in the Optimizely log: https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/205670207-The-console-data-object-and-Optimizely-log#l...

Have you tried the force variation query parameter to test if the 'original' or 'variation' to see if the content changes? [Force Variation Query Parameter](https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/200107480)

I visited the URL in your URL Targeting with Optimizely turned off and did not see the norton seal. Can you provide the URL that should contain the seals so I can take a look at the set up?

Re: Cannot Test Norton Shopping Guarantee Seal

Hi David,

I actually have them redoing the styling on the seal right now so it isn't visible on the page.

I did confirm that the variation code was being executed and tried the query parameter preview.

Polling was not working unfortunately in this case. I'll ping this thread again once the seal is back up and you can take a look! Thanks!

Re: Cannot Test Norton Shopping Guarantee Seal

Thanks for following up. If you know the selector for the seal, then you can use the following template to apply a style on the page. This method works better than the polling because it will tell the browser to hide the selector even if it is not available on the site. When it is available, the seal will be hidden without any flashing as long as Optimizely runs before the seal implementation.

Template:

$("body").append("<style> SELECTOR { display:none !important; } <\/style>");

Simply replace SELECTOR with seal's selector.

Thanks David!

That worked. Really clever - definitely going to stick that in my bag of tricks.
