Do users who see the 'original' page get an optimizelyBuckets cookie?

So I get that users are bucketed and that those seeing a variation get an optimizelyBuckets cookie set with the variation id, but do users who only see the 'original' get a cookie too? If so, what value is set on that cookie?

Never mind, found it in the Diagnostic Report on the Edit page!

Yep! Also, just for everyone else's reference you can find out more about Optimizely cookies in our support article here.

Here is the OptimizelyBuckets cookie (The first number in the JSON pair is the experiment ID and the second is the variation ID, which includes the Original). The IDs can be found in the Diagnostic report

optimizelyBuckets

  • What: Stores JSON of the experiments and variations that a user has been bucketed into. This ensures the user consistently sees the same variation, even over multiple sessions.
  • Example{"138736319":"138725428","138750142":"138754098"}
  • Expiration: 10 years

You can decode the cookie value for OptimizelyBuckets in the console with:

decodeURIComponent("value_pasted_here")
