How do I view an experiment that is paused? I dont want to activate to count false data.

Testing an experiment but dont want to view it and count as a visitor. I know I can cookie myself or some other method, but then it counts. There must be a way.

Hey,

What's wrong with the new preview tool of Optimizely X?

Also, you can excluse your IP from the results (in the Settings tab) - that might be a solution?

If you're on Optimizely Classic, you can use do a force preview (https://help.optimizely.com/QA_Campaigns_and_Experiments/Force_a_specific_variation_to_run_in_Optimi...).

It would essentially look something like this:
http://www.YOURSITENAME.com/?optimizely_xEXPERIMENTID=INDEXID

So, an example:

http://www.yoursitename.com/?optimizely_x123456=1

Thanks Robert. Doesn't this only work if the experiment is active, though?

I'm not sure, I haven't switched to X yet but maybe I should. Also one of the pages is behind a signup flow so I can't view it in preview mode regardless.

Hey,

If that's the case you may want to look into this article - https://help.optimizely.com/Troubleshoot_Problems/Troubleshooting%3A_Can't_load_a_gated_page_that_re...

I personally use Firefox where I adjust my Mixed content blocking settings which then allows you to preview in Optimizely (classic) if you're logged in in adjacent tab. That issue is fixed (at least for me) in Optimizely X. And yes, you should consider switching IMO Smiley Happy

Hi there,

Just a remark regarding previewing the inactive experiments using force query parameter - in Optimizely Classic, this is possible.

Best regards,
Optimizely
