How do Optimizely measure conversion rate?

Can't seem to find any official documentation on this? Not even here?

@hbaecklund

We define Conversion rate as the percentage of unique visitors who saw the variation and triggered the goal (in other words, how often your variation was successful at achieving the conversion goal)

We have a detailed article about the results page at:
https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/200039935

Hope that helps !

Re: How do Optimizely measure conversion rate?

This is a great question, and I'm actually working on some documentation about how Optimizely tracks visitors and conversions so that this will be easier to find for you. A few other questions I hear about conversion rate that might help:

1. What if the same visitor converts more than once? Optimizely deduplicates conversions, so that multiple conversions on the same goal don't count.

2. What if the visitor converts in a different session? Optimizely buckets the visitor with an experiment and variation ID cookie that lasts for 10 years, so as long as the visitor doesn't clear his or her cookies mid-experiment, the conversion will count on return visits as long as the experiment is still running and the visitor still meets the targeting condition.

Please let me and Shaunak know if you have other questions about this!
