How does intelligent tracking prevention in iOS 11 affect Optimizely?
Hi! I wanted to get some info on how the addition of "Intelligent Tracking Prevention" in iOS 11 affects how Optimizely behaves for IOS users. Could you explain what this means when using Optimizely to personalize content or display A/B tests for users?
While this Safari change is significant it should not have any major impact on the targeting and experience serving we currently conduct on-site. All of the cookies that we use to identify users and target them on-site are set and interacted with as first-party cookies, and are not impacted by this change.
The changes here only impact cookies that would be considered third-party. The statement that IOS 11 will change the concept of a "first-party cookie," is limited to when you are attempting to access that data from a third-party domain.
The ability to leverage a domain’s "first-party" cookie while on another domain is what is being changed here, not the ability to access a first-party cookie while on the same domain.
The one impact that this may have on our current solution is managing cross-origin tracking as visitors move from one domain to another to complete their conversion, however there should not be any significant impact beyond that.
Are the any updates regarding ITP 2.1 and the optimizely (e.g. optimizelyEndUserId) cookies?
