How to run test on 2 pages, one of which is the redirect target?

[ Edited ]

We want to test 2 pages - A and B,

I've set up a test with A as the original, and Variant1 (50%) redirecting to B. So far so good.

But I'd also like traffic which is sent directly to B to be 50% split to A.

I presume I can't simply use URL of B in the URL targeting as it would get stuck in a loop. So is this possible?

Any help much appreciated!

To reduce cluttering up one post with approaches for setting up several different scenarios, so let's presume you want to run this as two experiments that run at the same time and that these are landing pages  -- not pages that a user can reach via site navigation, this will work:  If this is not how you want your test set up, let us know and we'll explain alternatives.

1- Set up Experiment A:
URL targeting == Page A
Send half users to Page B, in the redirect add URL param such as "fromA=true"

2- Set up Experiment B:
URL targeting == Page B
Send half users to Page A, in the redirect add URL param such as "fromB=true"

3- Add an exclusion to Experiment A's URL - exluding "fromB=true"

4- Add an exclusion to Experiment B's URL - exluding "fromA=true"

Thanks a lot for the suggestion - that sounds iike it'll do what I want it to.

There may be some traffic to each page from navigation elsewhere on the site - but as I understand it that won't matter as the URL param exclusion approach will still work?
