IP Whitelisting (again ..)
Hope you can help I know this topic has been discussed so many times but really want to get an answer so that I can support our firewall team in getting Optimizely up and running within our Organisation.
I have run through the following Post and still stuck:
Basically I work for a huge corporate and I have been speaking to their firewall team who have told me [referring to the above post] "You cannot whitelist a domain…. That isn’t the way FW’s work (the comment likely refers to a proxy, which isn’t in this infrastructure)"
So if I cannot whitelist a domain on a firewall what options do I have to get Optimizely working within our organisation. Is there a set of IP addresses which can be used or does it have to be done by the domain?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for posting your question here. By default, the Optimizely editor tries to load your page via HTTP and HTTPS. After a relatively short timeout, if Optimizely hasn't been able to load your page yet, it will try to load through proxy. That's where you're likely running into troubles. If you load the page via http or https, you should be able to load the page in the editor, since everything will happen locally for you and therefore no IP needs access to your page. Can you make sure that:
- You've implemented your Optimizely snippet as high up in the head tag as possible
- You've enable mixed content
- Add the query parameter &optimizely_disable_proxy=true to the end of your experiment in the editor. This will prevent Optimizely from loading over proxy and should prevent you from having to whitelist IP's. For example experiment 9999999999 that makes the URL https://app.optimizely.com/edit?experiment_id=9999999999&optimizely_disable_proxy=true
I hope this helps! Can you give it a try?
I also have the same problem, because we use an internal staging system (IP protected). I have tried your solution, but it doesn't work. Is there an other workaround?
Can you please private message me the experiment-ID or the email of your Optimizely account + the page you're trying to load, so I can go in and have a look?
