Just put up my first test experiment. How do i know it's working?

So i've got a test running on www.sockdreams.com .. when i visit the page, i don't see anything changing. I've even tried clearing my cookies a few times.

1. Am i suppose to see some url parameters changing like they did with google expirements?

2. How do i know it's working? Optimizely say 25 people viewed it already, but I sure would love to be able to see it change for me too.. does optmizely know it's me and not do anything.. or do i just happen to be getting the orginal?

By the way the test is that the search box should say "Looking for something? Search here!".. if you see that then you are seeing variation #1.

Hi Dfoley,

I visited your link and I was bucketed into your test page and saw variation 1. The problem you're having seeing the experiment is not uncommon.

If this happens again to you (also good practice for checking experiments across browsers) is forcing a preview.

This article describing the process is worth a read when you have a few free minutes.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

Happy testing!

Hi @dfoley,

The tips given to you by Keith are really worthwhile and I'd highly recommend familiarising yourself with the Optimizely force parameters in order to be able to check how each variation looks live. I'd also take a look at this article, which gives several tips for quality-assuring your expeirment before setting it live to the general public. This empowers you to make sure everything is running as intended before you allow the general public into the experiment.

Just to put your mind at ease, I took a look at the experiment on the homepage and was able to see the changes using the Optimizely force parameters. If you'd like to take a look yourself, you can go ahead and use the following URLs:

http://www.sockdreams.com/?optimizely_x1127050663=0 (original)

http://www.sockdreams.com/?optimizely_x1127050663=1 (variation)

I hope this helps!
