Redirect is redirecting more than the page I need
I set up a redirect test — I thought I did it successfully. Using incognito windows, we were successfully seeing both versions.
However, today we noticed that other, unrelated pages on our site are redirecting to the B test page... Looking at my set up, I suspect I know what's 'causing it—but I'm not sure how to fix it.
I used this article as a setup guide: https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/200040675
#4 says that when setting up URL targeting, I should use a substring match to a part of the URL that includes both pages (and not to specifically target the page you're redirecting to or you'll end up in an endless loop). The pages I'm comparing are:
The URL I've targeted for the substring match is: http://www.contatta.com/product/
I BELIEVE the issue we're seeing is that randomly, other pages that are in the product directory are being redirected to the /product/tourstat page due to the URL targeting. (If I'm not mistaken though, my experiement did not work until I added that URL targeting.)
I've paused the experiement for now. I'm grateful for any assistance.

Hi there! I manage our knowledge base content, and it seems like we could be more clear with step #4. I'll add a clarification right away.
I think you're on the right track with this issue. When setting up URL targeting, you actually want to make sure NOT to use a substring match that will match both pages. This is what causes the redirect loop.
So if you change your URL targeting to a Simple Match for http://www.contatta.com/product/tour, and use http://www.contatta.com/product/tourstat as your redirect URL, then you'll be running a redirect test that compares those two URLs whenever a visitor lands on http://www.contatta.com/product/tour
Please let me know if that works for you, and if you have any other questions!
Yes, in the original phrasing we said "Be especially mindful of substring matches that include your original and variation" which didn't end up being very clear! So thank you for giving us feedback -- I really appreciate you reaching out on here to let us know!
Please let us know how it turns out and what else we can do to help you succeed!
I just reenabled my experiment. It seems to be working now. Thanks!
I'm so glad to hear your experiment is working now -- let me know what you end up learning from it!
