Setting a Goal for Referral Traffic to another website

Hi Optiverse Community!

I was curious if anyone has set up a goal for an A/B test within Optimizely that tracks traffic sent to another website. For example: I set up a goal in an A/B test that should measure any pageviews on a webpage that is not within the website I am testing on. The goal got 0 completes which means I sure didn't do it right. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks much!
Kimberly

Re: Setting a Goal for Referral Traffic to another website

You can only track goals on pages where your optimizely snippet exists. So... you cannot track the number of times a page on a site other than yours is viewed.

What you can do is create a Click Goal that tracks how often certain links on your site are clicked.

For example, if I wanted to track how often someone clicked any link on my site that goes to facebook, I would create a click goal that looks like this:

$('a[href*="facebook.com"]')
