Targeting an experiment on a URL with a specific query parameter

[ Edited ]

Let's say visitors come to my page with different query parameters in any order but the only parameter that you want to specifically target on is utm_campaign = optimizely. How would you set up targeting on www.mypeace.com/testpage2.html and look for a query parameter of utm_campaign = optimizely?

Re: Query parameters

You could set up a substring match on the url looking for your parameter?:

utm_campaign=optimizely

Hey @hbaecklund - You'll want to set a URL targeting condition that is a simple match to http://www.mypeace.com/testpage2.html. This will take care of the base URL piece.

To incorporate the query parameter of utm_campaign = optimizely, you will want to add an audience condition that looks for query parameter name "utm_campaign" and value "optimizely". You can find details on how to set this audience up here: https://help.optimizely.com/hc/en-us/articles/201876450#query_parameters

For reference if you just did a substring match to utm_campaign = optimizely then the experiment would run on *any* page that had the parameter, not just http://www.mypeace.com/testpage2.html

Let me know if you need any help setting this up or if you would like me to clarify anything!
