Thank You Page is behind a login - will it track?

Hey guys,

I have a checkout which automatically logs the user in upon purchase, then sends them to a thank you page. This page isn't accessible without being logged in.

Will Optimizely track this? It seems to have missed my first conversion.

Hi Jared,

Thanks for posting your question! Have you setup a pageview goal on your thank you page? Then this should track correctly, provided that:

  • Are you in the experiment when you're reaching your thank you page. See this article on how you can check whether you're in the experiment.
  • Is the thank you page on the same top-level domain as the URL you're running your experiment on? If it's not, your visits will not be registered. Optimizely tries to get the information on the visitor (identifier + experiment/variation ID's) to the new domain through the Optimizely third party visitor cookies, but a lot of browsers prevent Optimizely from doing this. See this article to learn more about cross domain tracking and issues.

See this article in our Knowledge Base on how you can troubleshoot your pageview goal.

Does this help you?

Best wishes,

Nils
