replacing a dynamic content with other dynamic content

I'm planning a test that will affect a dynamic area of the website.

In the original, the sidebar show a list of 5 recommend articles that is pulled dynamically from the database and change constantly. I want replaced it with a new list with the " Most Visited articles" that is also dynamic.

Is it possible to make this type of test or once I publish the variation the content will become statical? If so, is there any way around that, for example, using iframes?

Thanks

Unless you have an endpoint you can easily access with $.ajax() and/or the dev resources to open that up, the best way to do this is usually to add BOTH the modules to your blog, deploy, then use the optimizely editor to hide or show each module.
